The end of an era for several regional stations of terrestrial broadcaster ABS-CBN as they have cancelled several TV Patrol regional newscast on Monday, July 2.
TV Patrol newscasts in Baguio, Laoag, Dagupan and Isabela have merged operations to form TV Patrol North Luzon, while newscasts in Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Illigan and Dipolog have merged operations to form TV Patrol North Mindanao, and newscasts in SOCKSARGEN and Cotabato have merged to form TV Patrol South-Central Mindanao.
The regional division also cancelled TV Patrol Pampanga, which has been replaced by News Patrol Kapampangan.
The following are TV Patrol regional newscasts starting July 02:
- TV Patrol North Luzon
- TV Patrol Southern Tagalog
- TV Patrol Bicol
- TV Patrol Palawan
- TV Patrol Panay
- TV Patrol Negros
- TV Patrol Central Visayas
- TV Patrol Tacloban
- TV Patrol North Mindanao
- TV Patrol South-Central Mindanao
- TV Patrol Southern Mindanao
- TV Patrol Chavacano
Aside from the regional newscasts, the weekly feature show MagTV Na! and variety show Kapamilya Mas Winner Ka, and the infotainment show Agri Tayo Dito has also been cancelled.
Regional morning shows like Maayong Buntag Mindanao, Maayong Buntag Kapamilya and Bagong Umaga Bagong Balita have not been affected.
ABS-CBN gave no specific reason for the cancellations, but the network’s direct competitor GMA Network also cancelled several regional newscast and merged opertations in Dagupan (for Balitang Amianan), Cebu (for Balitang Bisdak), and Davao (for One Mindanao) last year.
